October 2019

October 2019 - Maison Martell presents a never-before collective of creative talents to celebrate the festive season.

For its 2019 gifting collection, Maison Martell launched an unprecedented collaboration with four international creative talents: contemporary artist Mathias Kiss, tattoo artist Dr. Woo, graffiti artist and nightlife entrepreneur André, and Bronx-based culinary collective Ghetto Gastro. Hailing from diverse domains and cultures, they are united by a spirit of audacity which led them to forge their own path to success – something they share with Maison Martell and its founder Jean Martell. Reinterpreting the 300-year heritage of the House for the 21st century, they created a series of collectible designs that reveal emblematic Martell products in a bold new light.

As part of the collaboration, Maison Martell gathered this never-before collective of talents together at the Château de Chanteloup, its historic estate near Cognac, to immerse them in the savoir-faire and generosity of the House. From this experience, and their encounter with Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud, they drew a shared creative energy. Each artist chose a Martell product that spoke to his creative vision and universe, and interpreted it with his own unique skills and contemporary viewpoint.

Mathias Kiss, who started out as a craftsman restoring historic buildings before achieving renown in contemporary art, transformed iconic Martell Cordon Bleu with his trademark mix of tradition and modernity. Dr. Woo, famed for pioneering the single-needle technique to create tattoos of breath-taking precision and finesse, revisited Martell VS Single Distillery and Martell VSOP Aged in Red Barrels. André, whose colourful graffiti and jaunty Mr. A character have been connecting people around the world for more than 30 years, proved the perfect fit for cosmopolitan Martell Noblige. Finally, Ghetto Gastro brought their dynamic vision of cultural fusion to Maison Martell’s own boundary-breaking Martell Blue Swift.

Creative, confident, contemporary – the Martell 2019 gifting collection invites cognac lovers to discover or rediscover emblematic Martell products and brings them together around a shared experience of audacity for the festive season.

Maison Martell
Maison Martell, the oldest of the great cognac houses, was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, a native of Jersey. For three centuries, Martell has produced, exported and marketed cognacs which are recognized worldwide for their outstanding quality. The identity of Maison Martell is founded on three key notions: elegance, complexity and harmony. Maison Martell was established during the golden age of French art de vivre, when gastronomy, oenology and craftsmanship attained great heights of refinement. These became the three pillars of the House and remain intrinsic to its vision 300 years later.
